Cantù Falls to Tortona; Vitucci: “Lots of Positive Signs”

Acqua S.Bernardo Cantù showed promise in its first game of the season, delivering a convincing performance in the scrimmage in Tortona. In the end, the home team—which was further along in its preparations due to its participation in the LBA Super Cup—narrowly won 78-76 after a hard-fought game that the blue-and-whites led for much of the way.

The top scorers for Cantù were Flagg with 19 points, Brown with 16 points, and Gravett with 12 points. For Derthona, Bortolani (18) and Hubb (17) stood out.

Cantù coach Frank Vitucci had this to say about his team’s performance: “It was a game from which we can draw useful insights, and that was the main objective, especially since we were playing against a strong team. We certainly played better in the first half, then our performance gradually dropped off, as was to be expected. We’ve confirmed that we’re exactly where we thought we’d be at this point in the preseason.”

“There are obviously many things we’ll be working on in the coming days, but there are just as many positive signs.” The conditions of Parravicini, who took a blow to the foot, and Christon, who took a blow to the nose, need to be evaluated; both will undergo the necessary medical tests.
