Five matches were played on Saturday as part of the second matchday of Serie B. The only home win came from Avellino, which defeated Vicenza 3-0 with goals from Besaggio, Russo, and Moruzzi, set up by three assists from the unstoppable Favilli. Thanks to this win, Avellino bounced back from their loss on the first matchday and earned their first three points of the season.

Cesena also has reason to smile, climbing to 4 points thanks to an away win in Chiavari against Virtus Entella, defeated by goals from Fiori and Shpendi (the home team’s goal by Tiritiello proved meaningless). Also sitting at 4 points are Ascoli, which drew 1-1 at home against Carrarese (Gori equalized Abiuso’s opener), and Padova, which recorded the same result at home against Verona: after taking the lead on an own goal by Edmundsson, the Biancoscudati were tied by Sarr on a penalty kick. First point for Hellas.

Disappointment for Sampdoria, who slipped up at home against Juve Stabia: Corradi’s team took the lead through Tutino, but in the second half they were pegged back and then overtaken by goals from Bellich and Di Nardo. The Blucerchiati also had to deal with injuries to Salvatore Esposito and De Paoli. In the standings, Sampdoria remains stuck on one point, as do the Campania-based team, which has a -2-point penalty imposed by the federation.
