Lazio Transfer Market: A Final Push for the Surplus Juventus Player, but Doubts Remain
Edon Zhegrova’s exclusion from the roster for the match against Parma (a 2-0 win with goals by Nico Gonzalez and Koopmeiners in the second half) seems to be a pretty clear indication of Juventus’ intentions as the transfer window draws to a close. The Kosovar winger’s future remains uncertain, and his departure is considered a real possibility.
Among the clubs that have shown interest is Lazio, as confirmed by sporting director Fabiani. The path to the Biancocelesti, however, presents several obstacles. In addition to the financial feasibility of the deal, there are assessments to be made regarding the player’s physical condition, as he underwent two surgeries related to groin pain during his time at Lille. For this reason, even within Juventus, a transfer to Lazio is considered unlikely.
The Balkan player does, however, have other options. Atalanta and Al-Ittihad have also shown interest in him, with the Saudi destination potentially gaining traction as the transfer window nears its close. Juventus is therefore awaiting further developments and aims to find a solution quickly, both to trim the roster and to free up the necessary space to complete its final signings.
Zhegrova’s time with Juventus has been marred by physical problems from the very beginning. Arriving from Lille in the summer of 2025, the 1999-born forward made just 19 appearances in Serie A last season, without ever finding the back of the net. This performance was a far cry from what he showed in France, where he had scored 26 goals during his three and a half years with the northern club. His signing, along with those of Jonathan David and Lois Openda, was among the most criticized under Comolli’s leadership; Comolli, the CEO, resigned last June after a season in which Juventus failed to qualify for the Champions League.
The Biancocelesti have reportedly already made a concrete offer, proposing a loan without an obligation to buy. The player’s salary, amounting to approximately 2.5 million euros, is reportedly considered affordable by Lazio, which has already bolstered its offense with the permanent signing of Andrea Pinamonti from Sassuolo for approximately 12 million euros.
