2026–2027 Serie A: Cagliari vs. Inter—Probable Lineups

Cagliari and Inter are both looking to secure their second straight league win after getting off to a great start to the new season. The Rossoblù kicked off the season with a valuable road win at Parma, taking down the Tardini, while the Italian champions lived up to expectations at San Siro, handing newly promoted Monza a 4-0 defeat. For Cristian Chivu’s team, however, the trip to Sardinia promises to be anything but easy. The head-to-head record from their 101 previous meetings clearly favors the Nerazzurri, who have secured 54 wins compared to Cagliari’s 16, with 31 draws.
Fabio Pisacane has yet to decide on his starting center forward. Mendy appears to be the slight favorite over Carlos and Borrelli. In midfield, Romano should get the start, while Mina will anchor the defense. Caprile is confirmed in goal.
Chivu, on the other hand, is expected to field much of the same starting lineup that defeated Monza in the season opener. Up front, Pio Esposito should partner with Lautaro Martinez, with Diouf confirmed on the right wing. In defense, the back three will consist of Bisseck, Akanji, and Bastoni.
Probable lineups:
Probable Cagliari lineup (4-3-2-1): Caprile, Ze Pedro, Mina, Rodriguez, Obert, Adopo, Winks, Romano, Maldini, Fazzini, Mendy. Head coach: Pisacane.
Probable Inter lineup (3-5-2): J. Martinez, Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni, Diouf, Barella, Calhanoglu, Zielinski, Dimarco, Pio Esposito, Lautaro Martinez. Head coach: Chivu.
