Juventus Transfer News: Deal Done for the Forward—Who Is Nick Woltemade?

Juventus is about to make a big move as the transfer window closes: the sale is now just around the corner for Jonathan David to Atlético Madrid has allowed Juventus’ transfer team to accelerate negotiations for the long-awaited attacking reinforcement.

According to Sky, Juventus and Newcastle have reached an agreement for the transfer of Nick Woltemade on a paid loan for a fee of 5 million euros. The deal between Juventus and Woltemade had already been finalized a few hours earlier, and the player is expected to undergo his medical exam. There is no buyout clause; the German international will return to the Premier League in June.

The Newcastle player, born in 2002 and under contract with the English club through 2031, was signed a year ago from Stuttgart for a record fee of 75 million euros. A physically imposing center forward (nearly two meters tall), skilled at playing as a target man but also technically gifted, he possesses the qualities Luciano Spalletti has long been seeking.

Having come up through the ranks at Werder Bremen, he broke out at Stuttgart during the 2024–2025 season, scoring 17 goals in 33 games. Woltemade also got off to a very strong start in the Premier League, but after a promising start, his performances dropped significantly: he struggled to adapt to the English league and was often played out of position. He has played 12 games for the German national team, including one match at the last World Cup in North America.

Juventus prevailed over Napoli, which in recent weeks had initiated exploratory talks with Newcastle to gauge the feasibility of a loan deal. The Neapolitan club had identified the German as a player who potentially fit their offensive needs, and Woltemade himself had indicated that he liked the idea of moving to Serie A. In the end, however, pressure from Spalletti—with whom the player had also been in direct contact in the final hours—tipped the scales in Juventus’ favor.
