Turin Transfer Market: A Surprise Move on the Wing—Who Is Nathan Patterson?

Torino is shaking up its defense with a surprise move right at the end of the summer transfer window: Nathan Patterson is already in Italy for his physical and to sign his contract.

The Scottish winger, born in 2001, is set to join from Everton: the deal is nearing completion, and the player will sign a permanent contract for an undisclosed fee, plus a 30% share of any future transfer proceeds. Having come up through the youth ranks at Rangers Glasgow, he has made 29 appearances for the Scottish national team.

Patterson is reportedly set to sign a three-year contract. After joining Everton from Rangers in January 2022, the player struggled to break into the Premier League club’s lineup and last season played just 240 minutes in total in England’s top flight. Patterson’s contract expires in 2027: he would be the third Scot to wear the Granata jersey after Denis Law and Che Adams.

The revolution on the wings is now complete following the arrivals of Fortini and Belghali: the Piedmontese club will now set its sights on a midfield signing, with Rolando Mandragora the clear favorite. The pursuit of the Fiorentina midfielder—valued by the Viola at around 10 million euros—is becoming increasingly concrete. The player already wore the Granata jersey during the 2021–2022 season. In addition to the Piedmontese club, Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa is also on his trail; De Rossi holds him in particularly high regard and is said to have pressured his club’s management to bring him to Liguria.
