Verona Transfer News: Belghali’s Transfer to Torino Is Official

It had been in the air long before the World Cup began with Algeria. We’re talking about the transfer of Hellas Verona defender Rafik Belghali—a crucial sale following the club’s relegation, as the “Gialloblù” look to cash in on their prized players right up until the very end.

Torino, under President Cairo, beat out Sassuolo for his signature. Hellas Verona reportedly received 8 million euros from the transfer. Hellas bid farewell to and thanked Rafik Belghali, wishing him the best of luck for the rest of his career.

Here is Torino’s official statement: “Torino Football Club is pleased to announce that it has acquired, on a permanent basis, the registration rights to the player Rafik Belghali from Hellas Verona Football Club. Belghali was born in Leuven, Belgium, on June 7, 2002. He developed as a soccer player in the youth academies of Sint-Truiden, PSV, Lierse SK, Zulte Waregem, and Lommel, making his debut with Lommel SK’s first team in 2021. With Lommel, he played a total of 48 matches across the Challenger Pro League (second division) and the Belgian Cup, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists.”

“In the summer of 2023, he transferred to Mechelen, where he made a total of 50 appearances across the Belgian top flight, the playoffs, and the Belgian Cup, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists. In the 2025–’26 season, he joined Hellas Verona, making his Serie A debut on August 25, 2025, in an away match against Udinese. In total, he played 26 matches for Verona, scoring 2 goals. Belghali also made 17 appearances and scored 2 goals for the Algerian national team, with which he competed in the 2026 World Cup, playing in all four of his team’s matches and even scoring a goal against Austria.”
