Ferrari, ad Vigna gives Mattia Binotto no quarter
“Second place is the first of the losers,” the words of Ferrari’s ad.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna in an interview with ClassNbc’s microphones took a not-too-moonly stocktaking of the Cavallino’s season in Formula 1, which ended with second place in the constructors’ standings and Charles Leclerc’s place of honor in the drivers’ standings.
“I said it at the last quarterly meeting, I’m not satisfied with second place because second is the first of the losers,” Vigna said.
No mention of rumors about Binotto’s possible farewell, but the signal is clear: “We have made progress, so I am satisfied with the progress we have made, but I am not satisfied with second place. I think the team has what it takes to be able to improve over time.”
If indeed Binotto were to leave, Vasseur could arrive from Alfa Romeo in his place.
