Awudu Abass: A return to Italy is a real possibility

Awudu Abass’s future could once again lie in Serie A. The winger, born in 1993 and currently under contract with Dubai, has in fact become the focus of several transfer discussions that could bring him back to the Italian league as early as the coming weeks, given that his role within the Emirati club’s plans is gradually diminishing.
Among the possible destinations, Rome is drawing particular attention. According to a report by “La Provincia,” both of the capital’s Serie A clubs, BC Roma and Maxima, are ready to explore their options to secure the player who came up through Pallacanestro Cantù, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained over more than fifteen years at the highest level.
Born and raised in Como, where he took his first steps in basketball with Antoniana, Abass joined Pallacanestro Cantù at age 13, making his Serie A debut in the blue-and-white jersey during the 2010–2011 season, winning the Italian Super Cup in 2012, and remaining in Brianza until 2016, when he transferred to Olimpia Milano.
With the “Scarpette Rosse,” Abass played two seasons, competing in the EuroLeague and winning one Scudetto, one Coppa Italia, and two Italian Super Cups. From 2018 to 2020, he played for Brescia, while from 2020 to 2024 he enjoyed a significant stint with Virtus Bologna, with whom he won one Scudetto, one EuroCup, and three Italian Super Cups. The 62-time Italian national team player then chose to join the Dubai project in the summer of 2024—the first club from the United Arab Emirates to compete in the EuroLeague.
