After 14 years, Flavio Roda will no longer serve as president of FISI

The FISI Ordinary Elective Federal Assembly was held in Verona to elect the new president of the Italian Winter Sports Federation. The candidates were Flavio Roda, Antonio Rosario Maria Noris, and Roberto Bortoluzzi, but none of them managed to reach the quorum required for election.
The bylaws set a higher threshold for Roda, who had already served three consecutive terms; he would have needed to secure 66.67% of the votes to win a fourth term. For the other two candidates, however, an absolute majority of the votes cast—50% plus one—would have been sufficient.
Roda received 58.88% of the vote, with 48,015 votes out of 82,950 valid votes cast. Noris received 35.97%, or 29,838 votes, while Bortoluzzi garnered 2.52%, with 2,087 votes.
The result marks the end of Roda’s tenure at the helm of FISI. In office since 2012, the Bologna-based executive will not be able to run for re-election and will have to step down as president after fourteen years, a tenure also marked by the great successes achieved by Italian winter sports at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics.
The Federation must now organize a new election within ninety days. Noris and Bortoluzzi will be able to run again, and other candidates may also enter the race. The new general assembly, to be held in the middle of the winter season, will also be called upon to elect the Federal Council, for which seventeen candidates had been nominated.
