Anna Danesi has a specific goal for her future abroad: “But I’m really happy at Vero Volley.”

KGM Italia has announced a partnership with Anna Danesi, captain of the Italian women’s national volleyball team and a player for Numia Vero Volley Milano, who has been chosen as the brand’s new ambassador.
The announcement coincided with the delivery of a customized KGM Actyon, symbolizing a partnership based on shared values such as determination, reliability, and team spirit. Sportal.it conducted an exclusive interview with the champion, who plays for Numia Vero Volley.
The season has just begun. How is it going working with the new coach, Gianlorenzo Blengini?
We’re getting along very well. He just arrived, so there’s still a lot of work to do, and we need to get to know his methods better. But I see him as very active, curious, and happy with this new experience. For now, everything is going very well, and I’m satisfied.
Blengini comes from a long background in men’s volleyball. How is he handling the transition to women’s volleyball?
He’s trying to get to know this world and asks a lot of questions, even to the staff members who’ve been working with us longer and are more accustomed to women’s volleyball. He’s very approachable and even manages to laugh at himself when he realizes that some things that worked in men’s volleyball might not work quite as well with us. It’s a positive attitude that’s helping us build a good relationship.
Unlike many other Italian champions, you’ve never played abroad in your career. Was that a deliberate choice?
In the past, I received a few offers, especially from Turkey, but in the end, I always preferred to stay in Italy. Monza is home to me: I’m close to my parents, I work alongside my boyfriend, and I feel very comfortable in my current environment. These are important factors that made the decision to stay much easier.
How much did the opportunity to play for a competitive club like Vero Volley Milano factor into your decision?
It played a huge role. I’m lucky to be part of a strong team within a solid, well-structured club that’s constantly capable of surprising us. Here, I have everything I need to perform well and compete at a high level. That’s another reason why I’ve never felt the need to switch leagues.
Looking ahead, is there a country where you’d like to play?
I’d really love to have an experience abroad, especially in Japan. It’s a country that fascinates me because of its culture, which is completely different from ours. I’ve had the chance to visit during some international competitions and found it spectacular. I’d love to really experience it, going beyond just the sporting aspect. I’m not ruling out that possibility in the future, but for now, I’m very happy here.
