The 4-3 loss to Club Brugge in the Champions League continues to spark debate within the Inter camp. Josep Martinez has come under particular fire from fans and content creators close to the Nerazzurri, having had a difficult night and being singled out specifically for leaving the penalty area—a move that set up the Belgians’ temporary 2-1 lead.

Among the harshest reactions on social media was that of Luca Mastrangelo, an influencer with a large following among Inter fans, who, during a live stream, bluntly attacked the Valencian goalkeeper, criticizing both his performance and Cristian Chivu’s handling of the situation. Mastrangelo’s outburst was extremely harsh from the very beginning: “So let’s start with a basic premise: Inter isn’t a foster home; it isn’t a rehabilitation center for sad people. If the goalkeeper isn’t good, he doesn’t play.”

The influencer then referred to several incidents this season, emphasizing that positive plays cannot make up for mistakes: “It’s not like we have to go through hell every time because a goalkeeper pulls off one or two miracles, only to make twice as many mistakes afterward. In Madrid, he tried the ‘ruleta’ and it didn’t go well; against Bruges, it was a game that started badly but you turned it around, tying it at 1-1—so what does he do? He comes off, goes off on a tangent, lets them score the 2-1, and the team loses its composure.”.

Mastrangelo then rejected any argument regarding the need to psychologically protect the player, sending a decidedly unambiguous message to Cristian Chivu: “If you bench him, will you burn him? I don’t care—he makes a million a year, two hundred thousand euros a month. He’ll be thrilled when the check arrives.”

The conclusion is even clearer: “If you’re good enough for Inter, you play; if you’re not good enough for Inter, you don’t play. I don’t care if I take you out and you’re sad. Inter isn’t a foster home; it isn’t a rehabilitation center. I’d like to be sad too when I get that 200,000-euro-a-month bank transfer from Inter. If you’re good, you play; if you’re not good, you’re out,” Mastrangelo concluded, though he actually used a much more colorful expression.
