A battle quite different from those he has faced on the track awaits Jack Harvey, who has shaken the world of motorsport by announcing that he has cancer. The 33-year-old British driver, a standout in the IndyCar Series in recent years, shared an emotional message on social media, explaining that he is ready to face what he himself considers the toughest challenge of his life.

“Life has presented me with a new battle: I’ve been diagnosed with cancer,” Harvey wrote, immediately sparking a flood of messages of support from fans, colleagues, and industry insiders. In his announcement, the driver from Bassingham added: “My entire career has been a constant search for the right opportunity, the chance to prove my worth behind the wheel. But throughout it all, I’ve never stopped believing that there was something worth fighting for.”

Despite this extremely difficult time, Harvey has no intention of giving up on his racing goals. In fact, the British driver has confirmed that his plans for 2027 remain unchanged, reiterating his desire to return to action right from the start of next season and to be on the starting grid for the legendary Indianapolis 500.

The message also included thanks to his family, friends, the Dreyer & Reinbold Racing team, IndyCar, and all the people who have shown him support during these particularly difficult weeks. His closing words, however, best capture the spirit with which Harvey has decided to tackle the journey ahead: “I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and this situation will be no different. It’s time to fight.”
