Sofia Goggia is back on the slopes after a difficult few weeks following health issues she experienced during training in Argentina. The champion from Bergamo shared a story on social media showing her back on the snow, engaged in a training session on the giant slalom course. The location where she is training has not been disclosed.

This is an encouraging sign for the Italian athlete, who was forced to cut short her training camp in Ushuaia and return to Italy to undergo thorough medical examinations. The tests had revealed two different viral infections, which had caused severe physical debilitation.

In recent weeks, Goggia had spoken about the difficulties she faced during her recovery, emphasizing the need to proceed with patience. “I’m very sorry that I was forced to return early and had to miss part of my training,” she wrote after returning from Argentina, explaining that she was improving but still very weak.

In the days that followed, the skier reiterated that her recovery would take time, without being able to determine with certainty when she would return to full physical condition. Now, a story posted on social media shows Goggia back on the giant slalom course. This is an important step toward gradually regaining her feel for the snow and resuming training on the course, even though the video does not reveal how far along her athletic recovery is or when she will be able to return to competition.

The Italian champion has already announced that she will not be at the starting line of the giant slalom in Sölden on October 24, the race that will kick off the 2026–2027 World Cup season. The decision is linked to her recovery from a viral infection, with the goal of getting back to full health without rushing the process. Her return to skiing is therefore a positive sign, but it does not yet mean she has the green light to return to competition. For Goggia, the priority remains fully regaining her strength after a summer training period that was abruptly cut short, and then planning her return to competition in preparation for the upcoming events of the season.
