Aleksander Aamodt Kilde Suffers Another Serious Injury: His Season May Already Be Over

The 2026/27 Alpine Skiing World Cup loses one of its star athletes even before the season begins. Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has been forced to take another break due to a serious injury: the Norwegian champion suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon following a fall during a downhill training run in Chile.
Born in 1992, he is already on his way to Innsbruck for further medical evaluations, but initial reports suggest he may face another long hiatus from the slopes. The Norwegian Ski Federation has announced that it will provide updates on the athlete’s condition once the tests are complete and his clinical picture is more clearly defined.
For Kilde, this is yet another major setback in a career that has already been marked by a particularly difficult journey in recent years. The winner of the 2020 Overall World Cup, as well as numerous discipline titles, the Norwegian was still trying to regain his top form following the dramatic accident in Wengen in January 2024. On that occasion, he suffered serious injuries to his shoulder and calf, marking the beginning of a long and complicated recovery process.
His return to the top level proved more difficult than expected, forcing him to withdraw from the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics as well. Now, just when it seemed he could continue on his path toward a new season, another devastating blow has struck. The ruptured Achilles tendon risks once again derailing his plans, leaving the immediate future of one of the great stars of international alpine skiing up in the air.
