Lorenzo Saccaggi Forced to Stop; Pistoia Reaffirms the Right to Privacy

Lumos Pistoia Basket 2000 ssd arl has announced that Lorenzo Saccaggi will have to temporarily suspend his competitive activities. A series of further medical tests will be conducted in the coming days to obtain a more precise medical assessment and, at the same time, determine when the captain will be able to return to the court. The club and the medical staff will provide the athlete with their full support during this time. “In the meantime, out of respect for the player’s privacy and right to confidentiality, the club will not provide any further information on the matter,” the red-and-white club stated.
Born in Massese in 1992, Saccaggi took his first steps in professional basketball with Pistoia, where he played from 2009 to 2013. During the 2013–2014 season, he went on loan to Fulgor Libertas Forlì, before transferring—again on loan—to Casalpusterlengo the following season. In 2015, he joined Scaligera Verona, and from 2016 to 2018, he played for Mens Sana Siena.
The Tuscan athlete then continued his career with Pallacanestro Biella, where he stayed for two seasons, from 2018 to 2020, before returning to his home region—specifically to Pistoia—the club where he had begun his professional career.
