Vasco Rossi reaches out to Diego Spagnoli: “I’m sorry… but never say never”

Just a few hours after the news that took Vasco Rossi’s fans by surprise—his split with Diego Spagnoli—the rocker from Zocca decided to personally explain what lies behind his separation from his longtime stage manager. In a lengthy post on Instagram, Vasco explained that the split stemmed from a heated argument during rehearsals.
“I thank Diego for the joy, the professionalism, and all these years together. He was my partner on stage. I wanted him by my side from day one: Guido (Elmi, record executive and another longtime collaborator of ‘Blasco,’ ed.) handled the hiring, and I made the choice. We each had our own roles… thankfully! As for the reasons behind the split, there’s no mystery. He’ll never tell you this, but I’ll tell you: during rehearsals, we had an argument on stage, in front of two people. I was nervous and tense, but that’s no excuse.”
“I told him what I thought, and he took offense. “I’m sorry,” the singer-songwriter, born in 1952, added. “He saw the tour through with great professionalism, and after the last concert, he sent me a video explaining his reasons. Of course, Diego is irreplaceable. Diego is Diego. But we have to move forward, and we’ll find a way to keep the show going,” he wrote, before adding a telling remark: “Never say never… time will tell.”
This last statement leaves a glimmer of hope for the future, even if the split seems irrevocable at the moment. In closing, Vasco shared one final thought for Spagnoli: “I wish him all the best in the world, with affection and gratitude.” Then came a message to fans ahead of the upcoming live shows: “The journey continues… and see you in Rome!”
Vasco’s words have inevitably sparked debate among fans. On one hand, there are those who appreciated the rocker’s decision to speak out personally and immediately clarify the reasons for the split, avoiding speculation and behind-the-scenes drama. On the other hand, however, there was no shortage of appeals directed at both the singer and Spagnoli to try to mend their relationship, given the personal and professional bond that has united them for over forty years.
In fact, many on social media hope that Vasco’s “Never say never” will turn into something more concrete, preventing a definitive breakup right on the eve of the musical “jubilee” with which the Komandante will celebrate his fifty-year career. The end of the professional relationship between Vasco Rossi and Diego Spagnoli comes just a few months before the “Vasco Residency Show,” a series of ten concerts at Rome’s Olympic Stadium, scheduled for June 6–25, 2027, to celebrate half a century of success.
