A night to quickly forget for Ruben Amorim’s Milan, who suffered a 3-0 defeat in England against Bournemouth: the Rossoneri, missing the injured Gonçalo Ramos, were reduced to 10 men at the half-hour mark after Maignan was sent off. Kluivert, Tavernier, and Adli scored the goals in the British victory, marking the second loss in the competition for the Milan side, who were never able to create any real danger.

A nightmare first half for Milan. The home team dominated the match from the opening minutes, coming close to scoring the 1-0 lead on several occasions, while the Rossoneri struggled offensively without Ramos (Cissé started in place of the injured Portuguese player). Bournemouth took the lead in the 8th minute when Kluivert converted a penalty kick awarded for a handball by De Winter.

In the 27th minute, Maignan made a terrible mistake that definitively ruined the Rossoneri’s evening: following a corner kick, the French goalkeeper put his hands in Adams’ face, causing him to fall to the ground and resulting in a sensational red card. Referee Fotias also awarded a penalty kick to Bournemouth, with Tavernier beating the newly substituted Torriani (who had come on for Hutchinson).

Down by two goals, down to 10 men, and effectively out of the game, Milan failed to create anything in the second half, despite Amorim’s substitutions (Bartesaghi and Rabiot came on, followed by Comotto and Diawara). Former Juventus player Di Gregorio had little to do, while the team’s only true center forward, Camarda, watched from the bench. The English side came close to making it 3-0 on several occasions, and in the closing minutes, they finally did so through Adli, who celebrated after scoring on a free kick.
