Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta suffered its first defeat in the Conference League, losing 2-0 to Ajax, which scored two goals late in the game. The Bergamo side remains stuck on three points, now tied with the Dutch team in the middle of the standings.

The first half was played at a fast pace and remained evenly matched for the first half-hour, then the Dutch side clearly took the initiative, coming close to scoring the 1-0 several times. Even at the start of the second half, La Dea struggled to gain ground and was pinned back by the Lancers, but then created two excellent chances through Zalewski and Kristensen, who squandered a chance to take the lead in the 59th minute by shooting wide with the goalkeeper beaten.

Atalanta came close to scoring again with Rowe and Zalewski in the 82nd minute, but in the 87th minute, Ajax struck: Arokodare, sent through from deep, shook off Obric and beat Carnesecchi in the 88th minute. The balance of the game shifted, and in the 92nd minute, Ouazane scored the second goal to seal the victory.
