Sofia Goggia continues to train at the gym to prepare for the new alpine skiing season, and through her Instagram Stories, she showed her followers a decidedly challenging exercise. This workout is reminiscent of the ones Formula 1 drivers routinely do to strengthen their necks—a crucial part of the body for withstanding the stresses of racing.

In the video posted on social media, the champion from Bergamo performs an exercise that requires strength, balance, and remarkable muscle control. She rests her head on a bench and lifts the rest of her body, keeping only her feet on the ground. She then increases the difficulty even further by using only one knee as a point of support, in a position that puts her muscles to the test.

This is anything but a simple exercise; it’s designed to build strength and stability. Strengthening the neck is particularly important in sports where the body must withstand high loads and intense movements, as is the case in Formula 1, where drivers must counteract the forces generated by acceleration and braking.

Goggia herself made the video even more entertaining by accompanying the footage with a joke about the consequences of the workout. “I won’t be able to move tomorrow—I won’t even be able to wave hello,” wrote the skier, joking about the fatigue and potential muscle soreness the next day.
