Torino fans loudly booed and heckled Ivan Juric before the match at the Olimpico Grande Torino between the Granata and Monza—led by the Croatian coach—as part of the eighth matchday of Serie A.

As is well known, the relationship between Torino supporters and their former coach has been frosty following his three years in Turin, and Juric was immediately targeted before the match with a chant—”Ivan Juric, you son of a b…”—coming from the Curva Maratona. The boos were particularly loud during the team introductions.

Juric, who has consistently defeated Torino as an opponent in recent years, coached the Granata from 2021 to 2024.

Before the match, the coach sent a conciliatory message to Torino: “It’s always a pleasure to return to a place where you’ve had good times. They have many strong players who performed well under me. It’s a wonderful team, well-structured, and capable of causing trouble for any opponent.”

On the Granata bench, Juric racked up 122 matches, with a record of 45 wins, 36 draws, and 41 losses. His return to the Olimpico Grande Torino as an opponent isn’t his first this season: on September 1, Monza knocked Torino out of the Coppa Italia, winning 1-0 on a goal by Dany Mota just before halftime, in a match in which VAR overturned two penalties, one for each side.
