Napoli’s excellent performance in the big match against Roma was marred by Massimiliano Allegri’s outburst. In the final moments of the match, the Napoli coach lashed out at the fourth official, then shouted in referee Sacchi’s face, and finally directed some unkind words at Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Disciplinary Committee decided to fine him and suspend him for two matches “for having, in the 45th minute of the second half, directed an insulting expression toward the match officials, and for having, furthermore, in the locker room, directed a seriously disrespectful remark toward them and adopted an aggressive attitude toward an official from the opposing team; these infractions were noted by the fourth official and the referee, and the latter by staff members of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.”

At the end of the match between Napoli and Roma, which ended 3-3, Allegri also vented his frustration at the press conference: “Tonight, for the first time in 25 years, I’m not in the right frame of mind to comment on the game. I was sent off because I was keeping quiet. The fourth official called the referee over and sent me off. I hadn’t done absolutely anything: it’s a shame, but next time I’ll stay on the bench.”

Then he added fuel to the fire: “Every time I make a move, I get sent off. I see others coming onto the field and turning the game around. I thank Saccani, and as for the rest, nothing but praise for the guys.”
