Boniek lashes out at Juventus: “They’ve already taken my star away—I won’t say anything else”

Former Juventus forward Zibi Boniek, in an interview with Radio Anch’io, harshly criticized the Bianconeri while analyzing the current state of Luciano Spalletti’s team: “It’s a pretty dire situation; I hear there are those who are criticizing Spalletti… I’ll just say that when I look at Juventus, I don’t see a team of champions, but only good players. And that makes all the difference.”
“This team isn’t in the running for the Scudetto; you can see that from how they’re struggling in Europe,” continued the former Polish star, who had this to say about Spalletti: “He’s not an easy coach to work with; he’s very demanding and particular. I’ve been in Italy for 44 years, and when I hear him speak on TV, I have to pull out a dictionary to understand what he’s saying.”
He wrapped up with a quip: “I’m not here to criticize my former team: without criticizing them, they gave me—and then took away—the star at the Stadium. I’ll leave it at that,” said Boniek, referring to the star at the Stadium that was removed following a request from the Associazione Italia Bianconera.
In recent weeks, rumors have also swirled around the Tuscan coach regarding a possible change on the bench, with Antonio Conte’s name linked to Juventus. However, the Lecce-born coach posted a statement on Instagram to set the record straight: “My name has been linked to numerous clubs, but at the moment there are no negotiations at an advanced stage,” clarifying that he will take the time needed to evaluate how and when to return to coaching after his “wonderful and successful experience at the helm of Napoli.”
