Carlos Alcaraz: A Heartfelt Message to Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz has decided to compete in the Vienna tournament following his disappointment in Shanghai, in order to quickly regain his form ahead of the season’s final Masters in Paris and the ATP Finals in Turin. At a press conference, the Spanish champion also commented on Jannik Sinner’s return for the Six Kings Slam scheduled for the end of the year.
“The Six Kings Slam has an excellent atmosphere. I’m happy to play against the best, including Jannik Sinner,” said the world No. 2, who also admitted how much he’s missed competing against the top players this season.
“I try to learn from every practice and every match, but the way the best players push you to improve is different. When you play these matches, you understand what you need to work on when you get back on the practice court. I miss playing these kinds of matches, and I also miss watching them. I think the next time I face them will be very important for me,” according to Ubitennis.
On world No. 1 Zverev: “I think he deserves it. Because tennis isn’t just about stepping onto the court and playing, trying to perform at your best. It’s not just about who plays better that day—it’s about the consistency you can maintain throughout the year. Some players are able to play at a high level, while others are in great physical shape. Sascha has demonstrated both—a high level of play and great physical conditioning. He manages to play the entire season, reaching finals week after week, without getting injured and enduring the fatigue, continuing to win all year long; he’s certainly earned it.”
On his decision to come to Vienna: “I haven’t played much this year and I need to compete; I need tournaments. I’m happy with how I’m playing and my current level, but I feel like I’m still missing something to get back to my best. Coming here and competing against these guys is exactly what I need to get back into the groove, to regain it little by little.”
