Salernitana Sacks Serse Cosmi: Three Names in the Running to Replace Him

Serse Cosmi’s tenure as Salernitana’s head coach has come to an end. President Danilo Iervolino decided to fire the Umbrian coach following the loss to Picerno—a team that had lost six of its previous seven matches and was led by the assistant coach, who was promoted to head coach for his debut.
This result convinced the Granata club to make a coaching change. Cosmi leaves Salernitana after earning 14 points in 11 matches, a performance that failed to meet the management’s expectations. The coach’s record was also weighed down by the team’s struggles away from the Arechi Stadium: in fact, the Campania-based team has yet to win a single away game this season.
The club is already working to identify a successor. Among the candidates being considered are Mimmo Toscano, Vincenzo Vivarini, and Fabio Prosperi—three coaches who could offer different approaches to reviving Salernitana’s ambitions.
Updates on the selection of the new head coach are expected in the coming hours; he will be tasked with turning the team’s fortunes around after a stretch marked by disappointing results. Iervolino’s decision thus marks the beginning of a new phase for the Granata club.
