The Spanish Football Federation has decided to postpone all 24 matches of the first round of the Copa del Rey scheduled for tonight, as a sign of respect and solidarity with the victims of the serious train accident that occurred in Toledo.

The decision was announced in an official statement, in which the Federation expressed its sympathy for those affected by the tragedy and their families.

The decision follows the serious train accident that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, in Urda, in the province of Toledo, where two high-speed trains collided, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. The tragedy has deeply moved people throughout Spain, prompting the Federation to suspend the day’s Copa del Rey schedule.

The RFEF has announced that it will release the competition’s new schedule and the final kickoff times for the postponed matches in the coming days. “The great Spanish soccer family stands united in grief over this tragedy,” the statement reads, with the Federation also assuring its willingness to cooperate with the authorities to provide assistance to those affected by the accident.
