Jorge Martin Returns to the Track; Doctors Give Him the Green Light for Free Practice at Sepang

Jorge Martin is back in the saddle: the Spaniard has received medical clearance for the Malaysian Grand Prix and will be able to take part in at least the first free practice session, scheduled for 3:45 a.m. Italian time on the night between Thursday and Friday at Sepang. This comes as a surprise, considering the serious injury he sustained less than a week ago at Phillip Island.

The Aprilia rider has been cleared by MotoGP doctors, but his recovery process remains to be seen. Martin will first need to assess his physical condition and regain his feel for the bike on a challenging circuit like the one in Malaysia. At the end of FP1, he will undergo another medical examination to determine whether he can continue the weekend.

What makes this comeback extraordinary is, above all, the timing. In the Phillip Island Sprint race, Martin was involved in a nasty crash that resulted in a compound fracture of his radius. Just a few days later, the Spaniard is already ready to attempt a return to the track, demonstrating extraordinary determination.

His presence at Sepang could also prove crucial in the race for the world title. Martin wants to fight for his chances until the very end, and he currently trails Marc Marquez by 10 points. Much will depend on how he feels riding his Aprilia and on his ability to manage the pain and physical strain while riding.
