Lewis Hamilton: The Secret to His First Pole Position with Ferrari Lies in His Mind

Lewis Hamilton secured an extraordinary pole position at the Mexican Grand Prix. The British Ferrari driver clocked a time of 1:16.514, finishing just nine thousandths of a second ahead of his former teammate George Russell, who took second place behind the wheel of a Mercedes.
At the end of qualifying, the Ferrari driver expressed his complete satisfaction with a result that came at the end of a complicated weekend: “I feel great; I’m absolutely thrilled. I’m lost for words—it’s been a tough weekend. We had an engine issue in FP1, which ended up affecting our work, but we managed to find a great setup. We’re all very close. It’s truly special to secure my first pole position with Ferrari.”
Hamilton then spoke about the motivation that continues to drive him, despite his many years in Formula 1, emphasizing the importance of his passion for racing and the support of the fans: “When you want something, it’s all in your mind. I do a lot of things to stay in shape; I love what I do, and that love has never faded. The fans have given me motivation, and I hope to make them happy tomorrow.”
Hamilton will therefore start from pole position in tomorrow’s Grand Prix, with George Russell alongside him on the front row. Right behind them will be Charles Leclerc’s other Ferrari, which finished third in qualifying, confirming the excellent work of the Maranello team. Fourth place goes to Kimi Antonelli, who could be crowned world champion, while Max Verstappen will start fifth after receiving a one-position grid penalty for the incident with Liam Lawson during free practice.
