Mike Maignan ready to return but AC Milan wants to protect itself
Mike Maignan’s comeback gets close but the date is still an unknown
After a five-month ordeal, Mike Maignan is back in training with the team and preparing for his return. For an exact date to see the French goalkeeper, a major player in Milan’s tricolor season, in goal again, there may, however, still be a need to wait.
Given the numerous complications of the knockout suffered with his national team, Milan’s medical and technical staff do not want to rush his return to the field, and Stefano Pioli himself will deploy ‘Magic Mike’ only when he is sure to have him at 100 percent.
The idea is to have him in perfect condition on March 8, when Milan will have to defend the 1-0 San Siro win from Tottenham’s assault in the return leg of the Champions League round of 16 in London. It is therefore difficult for Tatarusanu to leave his place between the posts on Sunday against Atalanta, more likely that Maignan will return to defend the Rossoneri’s goal in the next match, also in the league, against Fiorentina. A sort of run-in before the big European challenge.
