Jannik Sinner beats even the rain: it’s semifinal in Miami
Sinner beats Ruusuvuori and flies to semifinals
Not even the rain stopped Jannik Sinner. In fact, the South Tyrolean tennis player, after a full two hours of rain interruption, overcame Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori in two sets with a score of 6-3 6-1 and enters the semifinals of the Miami Masters 1000. There he will face the winner of the match between Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz, in what could be a repeat of the Indian Wells semifinal.
A somewhat labored start for Sinner, who also had to nullify a dangerous break point in the fourth game: from that moment, however, the Italian shifted gears and strung together four of the next five games, cashing the first set 6-3.
In the second partial the South Tyrolean melts away and immediately rises ahead by a break: rain, however, interrupts everything at 2-0 in his favor. Upon returning to the court, however, the Italian did not flinch and in a few minutes made the second set his as well, sealed with the final ace. For Jannik this is his second semifinal in Miami, the second consecutive one in a Masters 1000, after the one in Indian Wells.
