Lorenzo Sonego is already aiming for Monte Carlo: “I will train with Djokovic.”
One Masters 1000 is behind us; it is already time to focus on the next one.
Lorenzo Sonego stopped in the round of 16 at the Miami Open, but he does not intend to stop. The Italian will now focus on the next Masters 1000, the one in Monte Carlo. And he will do so by preparing with a colleague of the highest caliber: Novak Djokovic.
He confessed this himself, in an interview collected by ‘Tuttosport’. “Monte Carlo is a tournament I care a lot about, there in 2019 I had managed as a qualifier to reach the quarterfinals,” Sonego recalled. “Now, looking ahead to the next few days, coach Arbino has told me that he has made an appointment with Djokovic. We will train together, and I am looking forward to it.”
“I’m getting the feeling that I can play on par against anyone,” Sonego added about his participation in the Miami Masters 1000. Now I’m aiming to turn my clay tournament appearances into new possibilities. I want to move up the rankings more and more.”
