Musetti signs feat: beats Djokovic and gives himself Sinner

Lorenzo Musetti signs an extraordinary feat in the afternoon quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000. The Italian camebacked the Serbian champion and closed 4-6 7-5 6-4 after nearly three hours of play and a rain interruption of almost an hour.

In the first set it was Djokovic who stretched but Musetti immediately recovered the break disadvantage. At the best, however, Lorenzo lost the serve again and handed the set to the Serb 6-4. The second partial begins as the first had ended, with the two players struggling tremendously to hold serve. The first to succeed is Djokovic at 2-2, then signing the break that seemed to close the match. The Carrara-based tennis player, however, doesn’t go for it, retaking his opponent at 4-4 and winning the partial 7-5, sending the match to the third and decisive set, although rain interrupted the match at 1-1. Back on the court after almost an hour of play, Musetti seemed more pimply than Nole: in fact, Lorenzo signed the break on 3-3 and kept it until the end, closing on the fourth match point.

In the quarters Musetti will face Jannik Sinner in an incredible derby that will surely bring an Italian to the semifinals of the Monegasque tournament.
