Ducati, Danilo Petrucci in disbelief after resounding disqualification
Ducati Barni team rider Danilo Petrucci was disqualified from Race 1 of the Barcelona round of Superbike, where he had finished in 10th place, after a technical infraction committed in the post-race.
The rider from Terni specifically did not have a chest protector under his suit, and thus lost the 6 points he had won. Petrucci defended himself to Speedweek: “I raced with the protector and at the parc fermé, after the race, I gave it to my assistant. I went to weigh myself and I didn’t have it. My protests were useless. Never seen anything like that, I’m speechless.” Petrucci will try to make up for it in Race 2, scheduled for Sunday.
