Appeal dismissed: Cantu seeks new field for playoffs
Appeal dismissed
Pallacanestro Cantù’s appeal in relation to the two-day court disqualification imposed by FIP after Monday night’s disconcerting episode has been rejected. The Brianza club is looking for a new venue for its next home games (possible game 5 with Pistoia and possible challenges in the final): names of Brescia, Casale and Piacenza are circulating.
“Pallacanestro Cantù strongly condemns the episode that took place at the end of the home game with Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia, a match that had taken place regularly in a warm, but correct atmosphere. The club disassociates itself and condemns any form of incivility that, even if carried out by a single individual, nevertheless damages the image of an entire fan base, expressing its closeness and solidarity with the Pistoia athlete Gabriele Benetti, as well as reiterating how certain episodes have nothing to do with basketball and sport. Pallacanestro Cantù has always believed in a sport made of fairness, respect and civility. In this sense, the club hopes for maximum détente and collaboration for the continuation of the series, which can take place in a serene climate of virtuous sports competition,” the Brianza-based club had written in a note.
