Bremer to Juve, social protest explodes
Patron Cairo’s Instagram account has literally been taken by storm: heavy-handed insults are flying.
If Monday was Paulo Dybala’s day at Roma – although the official announcement is still missing – the following day marked the closing of negotiations between Juventus and Torino for Gleison Bremer’s move to the Bianconeri. Juve, with a monstrous bid of 41 million plus 7 million in bonuses, beat off competition from Inter. Which in the space of 48 hours saw two of its market targets vanish.
If the Juventus side of Turin obviously rejoices – also for having snatched the strong South American from his Nerazzurri rivals – the Granata side is in turmoil. As early as late Tuesday afternoon, in fact, President Urbano Cairo’s Instagram account-which has no restrictions on being able to leave comments-has literally been taken by storm. Toro fans just don’t seem to want to forgive their patron for handing over the most fote player on the roster to city rivals.
From rather colorful calls for him to leave the club’s ownership to personal insults – some even posted Cairo’s phone number, inviting other users to write to him about everything in private – the publisher’s popularity with the fans appears to be at a low ebb.
