Halle: air of derby between Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego, but first round is tough
Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego could meet in the round of 16
A draw was made on Saturday for the draw for the Halle tournament, an ATP 500 traditionally held in Germany just weeks after Wimbledon. Two Italians are present, Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego, who could cross each other in the round of 16.
To get to the derby, however, both Italian tennis players are required to overcome a rather tricky first round: Sinner, who on grass has yet to find his own dimension compared to other surfaces, will face a circuit veteran of the caliber of Richard Gasquet, while Sonego will have to defeat Nick Kyrgios, who after knee surgery at the beginning of the season returned only last week in Stuttgart (first-round knockout against Wu), but is still the finalist of Wimbledon 2022 and No. 25 in the ATP rankings.
