Marc Marquez, harsh words on Valentino Rossi
Honda centaur Marc Marquez in his new book “Being Marc Marquez” dedicated a few lines to his turbulent relationship with Valentino Rossi, his idol in MotoGp before the notorious events of 2015.
“If I have to go through a wall, I go through it. It’s so easy for me: I’m absolutely uncompromising. If someone has been better than me, I respect them. But don’t confuse respect for a rival with anything else: that is not friendship. The battle between me and Valentino Rossi became so hard over the years that we lost respect for each other. He had been my hero and in a few months he became air for me, and he continues to be air for me today.”
Marquez, in great difficulty this season, was clear in a recent interview about his future: “My intention is to stay with Honda. We are already working for the future. In September, after the Misano GP, I will test the 2024 bike and at that point we will see more clearly where we stand. The good thing is that we have a very good relationship with the team and we are trying to do our best to take this project forward.”
On the rumors linking him to KTM he expressed himself this way, “Honestly I have not had any conversation with Stefan Pierer. If my manager has had contact with them, I don’t know. I don’t have that information.”
