Davis Cup: Filippo Volandri outspoken over Jannik Sinner
The captain of the Italian national Davis Cup team, Filippo Volandri, made a few statements to Ansa, ahead of the Davis Cup Finals, which will start on September 12 and will see Italy engaged in Group A with Canada, Chile and Sweden at the 'Unipol Arena' in Bologna.
"We are in contact with Sinner and are waiting for him to give us updates, knowing, however, that we have a team that is up to the task that awaits us in Bologna" stressed the Azzurri captain.
Increasingly persistent rumors are circulating about a forfeit of Jannik Sinner after the fatigues in the battle with Zverev in the round of 16 of the Us Open: "Jannik finished with Zverev an extremely physical and intense match. The most important thing now è that he recovers. This takes time, so he needs to rest and recover. Only his body canò give him an answer".
"Matteo couldn’t wait to come and play in Davis, he was excited. He, too, però now has to think about recovering" concluded Volandri on the Roman tennis player.
