Daniil Medvedev, a recent finalist in Beijing where he è was beaten by Jannik Sinner, è already out of the Shanghai Masters 1000. The world number 3 è was eliminated in the third round by U.S. Sebastian Korda, number 26, in two sets: 7-6 (8), 6-2.

Medvedev è was long evenly matched in the first set with his young opponent (23 years old), going so far as to build two chances to win it, one with serve at his disposal. But the son of Czech former world No. 2 Petr Korda saved them both, before making a mini-break on 8-8 and closing out the first set on serve.

Almost without story the second, in which Korda è quickly took a 3-0 lead and then a 5-2 lead, eventually snatching service from Medvedev after 1 hour and 28 minutes of play. Korda had already beaten the Russian in the last confrontation, at the Australian Open in January.
