Luciano Spalletti picks up Francesco Totti's olive branch
The Azzurri coach, Luciano Spalletti, picks up the call for peace made by Francesco Totti, who in an interview with Corriere della Sera had opened a glimmer of hope that the relationship with the former Giallorossi coach would return to peace for good.
"Surely there's been a period when I was not able to make him understand that I never stopped hugging him, that I would always want him with me. Before the next game at the Olimpico I will go to visit some friends we have in common at the Bambin Gesù it could be a nice opportunity to visit him together".
"If I met him I would greet him with affection, I would be pleased – Totti’s words in the long interview with Walter Veltroni – I think there is a deep bond between us. Also because what we spent together, when he arrived from Udine, è for me, in my life, something unrepeatable. Both on the field and in daily life. I used to go out once or twice a week with him for dinner. Luciano was a pleasant, funny, sincere person. In the final stage, our relationship è was conditioned by the outside, especially by the company's executives or consultants, and we no longer understood each other. I have also made mistakes, that should be missed. I think both of us, if we went back, we would no longer come into conflict".
And Spalletti, now at the helm of the Italian national team, immediately picked up, opening up for a reunion when the Azzurri’s next engagement in Rome.
