.
One individual time trial, three stages for sprinters, two for finisseurs and one uphill finish. That's the menù of the 59th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico Crédit Agricole that will take place March 4-10, 2024. The Race of the Two Seas will touchà in its 1115-kilometer journey, four regions of Central Italy starting in Tuscany and passing through Umbria and Abruzzo before ending, as has become tradition, in the Marche.
DECLARATIONS
Mauro Vegni, RCS Sport Cycling Area Director: "As in past editions, it promises to be an enthralling and spectacular Tirreno-Adriatico, full of great stars who have made it so that the Corsa dei Due Mari has become by detachment the most prestigious one-week race in the world. Both the stages and the general classification are the territory of conquest of riders who are successively great protagonists throughout the season, from the Classics to the three-week races. All these conditions create great interest and make it so that for the territories there is a moment of enormous visibility; also thanks to the live TV scheduled globally".
Stefano Allocchio, RCS Sport Race Director: "As per recent tradition, we have mapped out a route that can, over the course of a week, offer chances to all types of runners. We start with a time trial, on a route that has seen Filippo Ganna triumph in the last two years, and close with a fraction for fast wheels in San Benedetto del Tronto. In between we have two stages for sprinters, two mid-mountain stages and an uphill finish at Monte Petrano, a 10-kilometer climb with an average gradient of 8 percent. The fight for the Maglia Azzurra will be as hard-fought as it is every year and we are confident that the winner, as usual, will be a complete rider".
Daniele Bennati, Technical Commissioner of the Italian National Team: "Once again this year promises to be a compelling edition, from the technical point of view it will be important to evaluate the exploits of the riders on each type of track. I hope as the Technical Commissioner of our National Team to see Italian riders excel and put on a show so as to have important indications for then what will be the international competitions of 2024 such as the Olympics and World Championships. I really like the route, è well balanced and I am sure we will experience a great week of cycling".
Antonio Spazzafumo, Mayor of San Benedetto del Tronto: "By now San Benedetto del Tronto è in the DNA of this race as we have hosted the grand finale of all editions except the first year. This race è is very important for us as it è a vehicle for promoting our territory and we are happy to have the final stage again in 2024 with the circuit crossing our streets before the arrival on the Lungomare".
Marcello Pierucci, Mayor of Camaiore: "2024 will beà for Camaiore a year to celebrate: it will be the tenth consecutive time that we will host the first two stages of the Tirreno-Adriatico. Since far-off 2014, each edition renews the enthusiasm and honor of having become, by now in its own right, the official starting venue of the Race of the Two Seas. Ours è is a true land of cycling: a decade-long history that is renewed and continues to develop, evolve and strengthen, protecting a passion widespread in our community that will never stop burning in the hearts of so many fans. Camaiore and the Tirreno-Adriatico: a now traditional pairing, destined to strengthen, endure and grow more and more.

TAPPA 2, CAMAIORE-FOLLONICA, 198 KM
Path
Moving and articulated stage especially in the second part. Departing from Camaiore and through Montemagno we first reach Pisa and then the Livornese to leave the completely flat part and climb to Castellina Marittima where we continue south through Riparbella and Canneto. Once you finish the long stretch that follows, mostly downhill, you enter the final circuit of about 20 km to be repeated once.

TAPPA 3, VOLTERRA-GUALDO TADINO, 220 KM

Very long and fairly undulating stage in the first part that runs through the Sienese hills, also crossing Siena. Of note in the first section are four consecutive level crossings on the same (secondary) line. After Torrita di Siena the roughness softens and along the plain of Trasimeno leading to Perugia one travels mostly straight roads at times with narrow roadways. You then face the long, pedalable climb of Casacastalda whose descent leads directly to the’finish. Very articulated and challenging road especially on the descent.

It passes through some places much frequented by the Corsa dei Due Mari recently such as Castellalto and Bellante and some from the recent past such as Campli and Civitella del Tronto. The route is extremely articulated both altimetrically and planimetrically. It takes place mainly on roads with slightly worn and medium-sized roadway. On the slopes of Monte Petrano we climb the short, steep climb of Moria (about 2.5 km at 9 percent) to reach Cagli where the final ascent begins.
