Atletico Madrid and Alvaro Morata slice up Juventus: 4-0
Triplet of the big market target, and very few good signs.
Juventus got scrambled by Atletico Madrid in the friendly that closes the preseason and was supposed to be a chance to meet Alvaro Morata again, in hopes of finalizing his return. However, the Spanish center forward became the protagonist in the most painful way for the Bianconeri: with a hat trick.
Morata opened the game in the 10th minute with a great left-footed diagonal shot that left Szczesny no chance. The Polish goalkeeper represents one of the few happy notes for Massimiliano Allegri, with at least a couple of decisive interventions. There is also a penalty, neutralized by Juventus’ No. 1 on Joao Felix’s attempted conversion. Nothing to do instead in the 43rd minute, when Morata leaves Bonucci no chance in the melee in midfield and then scores the resounding double on a counterattack.
Nothing changes in the second half, despite Allegri’s many changes. In the 62nd minute Lemar tried on a free kick, but it was Morata’s slight header that accounted for Atletico Madrid’s tic-tac-toe. Then, as time expired, Cunha had no problem depositing former Inter player Kondogbia’s cross-shot into the unguarded net.
