Novak Djokovic makes no excuses: ‘Jannik was dominant’

Sinner è in the final of the Australian Open. Beaten, in four sets, Djokovic who, in Melbourne, had not known defeat for 33 matches in a row. A defeat that weighs heavily on the Serb, certain that he did not express his best tennis against the Azure: "I was shocked by my level, I did not do much in the first two sets. I guess this is one of the worst matches of the Grand Slam. At least what I remember. It è not a very pleasant feeling to play like this", his words reported by Sky Sports.
However, the Serb, the defending champion, congratulates Sinner on an excellent performance: " I want to congratulate Sinner for playing a great match, a great tournament so far. " deservedly in the final. He completely beat me… Congratulations to him, he was very dominant. Dominant in his service games. Obviously if you serve well and you don’t face a break point, you can put moreù pressure on the answering games and he did".
Djokovic è however, confident for the continuation of the season, despite the heavy defeat he suffered in Melbourne against Sinner: "The season? I still have high hopes, for the other Slams, the Olympics and whatever tournament he will play. It's just the beginning of the season…. This tournament was not, as I said, up to my standards, my criteria or the level at which I would normally play or expect to play, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's the beginning of the end, as some people like to think. Let's see what happens in the rest of the season".
