Asia Cup: Qatar triumphs with a hat trick of penalties
Qatar won the Asian Cup of Nations for the second consecutive edition: the selection coached by Felix Sanchez overcame Jordan 3-1 in the final played at Lusail Stadium, confirming its status as Asian champions. The big star of the evening è was Akram Afif, author of a hat-trick, all on a penalty kick.
Nothing to do for Jordan, the tournament revelation team, which for more than an hour played on equal terms with the hosts. Qatar è took the lead on a penalty with Afif at 23' and, after the Jordanians had found the equalizer with Al-Naimat at 67', closed out the match with Afif’s two other penalties at 73' and in the dying minutes.
Afif thanks to these three goals è graduated as the tournament’s top scorer with 7 total goals.
