Inter Milan, Denzel Dumfries has ended up on the sidelines: future in the balance
Renewal on standby, contract expiring in June 2025
Throughout the first part of the current season, Dumfries è was one of the two starting outfielders in Inzaghi's eleven. Then, on Dec. 3, he è got injured against Napoli and everything è changed. After being in the box for about three weeks, the Dutchman no longer had the space he had before. Darmian è became the new starter with Buchanan pushing for space.
The numbers are merciless. Since his return, Dumfries è has been on the bench seven times. That’s a lot, too many for someone who, at the start of the season, was one of the starters. During the January market, there was even talk of his possible farewell, as if to certify how Inzaghi has decided to focus on other profiles. In short, the Dutchman's future is really a big question mark at the moment.
Dumfries has a contract expiring in June 2025. There has been a lot of talk about his possible renewal but, as of today, everything seems to be on stand-by. Dumfries has several admirers, particularly foreign clubs, and, in the summer, he will have to decide what to do. At Inter, in the first two years, è he did great. This year he ended up a bit on the sidelines, although his quality has never been questioned.
