Party in Acapulco over for Arnaldi and Cobolli
Much applause but the race ends on the più beautiful for the two Italians
After surprising in the opener of the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, beating Fritz and Auger-Aliassime, Arnaldi and Cobolli were convinced they had a good chance to go as far as possible in the tournament. Instead, their adventure was è interrupted, abruptly, in the round of 16. Arnaldi è surrendered to Shelton while Cobolli could do nothing against Tsitsipas.
The San Remo man put up a great fight against the American. After losing the first set on tie-break (7-1), Arnaldi fought back and managed to take home the second partial (6-3). In the deciding set, Shelton è more continuous and, with a partial 12 points to four, ran away and closed the match (6-3). It was a hard-fought match, so much so that it took the American two hours and 33 minutes to win it.
Cobolli also tried, who, in the face of Tsitsipas, suffered a touch of inexperience. Starting from the qualifiers, the Roman tennis player plays a not-excellent first set (lost 6-3) but redeems himself in the second partial, so much so that the Greek wins it only at the tie-break (8-6). A pity for Cobolli who, however, from Monday will have an interesting position in the ATP ranking.
