Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur takes stock of Carlos Sainz’s condition
Here are the words of Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur regarding the condition of Carlos Sainz, who last Friday è was operated on for appendicitis and had to leave his Ferrari SF-24 both in qualifying and in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix to the very young British rookie Oliver Bearman, the third driver of the Maranello factory.
“The most important thing è recovering well and not rushing the recovery, which so far è has been incredible. The fact that he was able to return to the track to be with the team è a positive sign and has given us great support. He è will want to come home with me and will have a full week of rest. Then we will decide whether to have him come to Melbourne or not”, Vasseur said, quotes quoted by formulapassion.co.uk.
There’è still uncertainty in short about Sainz’s presence in the Australian Grand Prix, whose three days of practice, qualifying and race’ scheduled from Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24. Time to recover there’è and after all, the Madrid native was present at the pit wall the day after the operation to support the team.
But a trip from Jeddah to Mebourne è very heavy, as bad as it can get for a driver both as well prepared physically as Sainz but who è is back from a delicate surgery. We’ll just have to wait until next week to find out more. Meanwhile, the “third drivers” Antonio Giovinazzi and especially Oliver Bearman are on pre-alert for’Australia.
