Jannik Sinner scrambles Medvedev: “Dominant? I don’t know why.”
A capitalized performance, which even the person directly involved cannot fully explain.
Jannik Sinner è in the final at the Miami Open for the third time in his career, after a very clear 6-1, 6-2 victory over Daniil Medvedev on Friday night. The South Tyrolean è won in just one hour and nine minutes, failing in the aftermath of the match even he could not give himself an explanation on a success achieved with so little difficulty.
"I don’t know whyé I was able to be so dominant – admitted Sinner candidly a few minutes after his Miami triumph – I felt great today on the court. In general, the more you advance in tournaments, the more comfortable you feel. That is why I am very happy with the match I had today. I expected a very tough match, but he made a lot of mistakes and I took advantage of them. But surely if he had managed to break early in the match or at the beginning of the second set it would have been different".
" On the court I felt good, now we will see how it will go in the final. Here in Miami I have already played my first final in a Masters 1000, and sometimes I think back. I remember the night before that final I could not sleep. Now, however, I can handle these situations much better. I hope I can play well on Sunday, becauseé this è a really important tournament", added Sinner.
