Cristiano Ronaldo still at "zero tituli"
Al-Hilal won its fourth Saudi Pro League title in five years, once again denying Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr a chance to win the trophy.
Al-Hilal, which signed Neymar last summer but has been without the injured Brazilian since October, won 4-1 over Al-Hazem. Still unbeaten in 31 league games, Al Hilal now has a 12-point lead over Al-Nassr with three rounds left.
For CR7 è the second season in Saudi Arabia without winning the league. Since the Portuguese’s sensational move to the kingdom, other big names in soccer have signed major contracts with various clubs in the country, including Neymar, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mané, N'Golo Kanté and Riyad Mahrez.
The members of the "Big Four" Saudi – Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Benzema’s club, and Al-Ahli, Mahrez’s team – all belong to the Public Investment Fund (PIF), a sovereign wealth fund that is working to diversify the Saudi economy. The Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr will meet again in the final of the King’s Cup on May 31.
