Lorenzo Sonego-Miomir Kecmanovic 7-6 7-6

Lorenzo Sonego washes his grass debut with a success. Indeed, in the first round of the ATP 500 in Halle, the Piedmontese tennis player overcame in two sets (7-6 7-6) Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, number 54 in the ATP rankings, after nearly two hours of play.

In the first set it was the serve that dominated, with both players conceding the crumbs on their serves, except for a very dangerous break ball conceded and annulled by Sonego in the 11th game. So it comes to the tie-break: Sonego runs away 4-1 but is caught on 4-4: the blue player gets a first set point on 6-5 but Kecmanovic cancels it; the second forò è è the good one and closes for 8-6.

With the momentum in his favor, Sonego immediately gets a break point in the opening game of the second partial but Kecmanovic saves. The Serb also nullifies another one for the Blue in the ninth game and so it goes to the tie-break again: the Piedmontese player goes down 5-2 but with an incredible comeback he signs five consecutive points and gets an important victory.

Sonego thus enters the round of 16 of the 'Terra Wortmann Open' where he will face the winner of the all-German challenge between Alexander Zverev, second seed and world number four, and Oscar Otte, number 474 in the ATP rankings, who came from the qualifiers.
